The starting point for this blog is an exploration of religious coexistence in medieval Andalucia. While there was plenty of conflict between Muslims, Christians and Jews, a rich culture flourished in the life shared between them.
While it will take some time to unpack the history and culture, my ultimate goal is to look at how it may inform contemporary Unitarian Universalism. My hope is that we can grow beyond our notion of tolerance ("to bear with repugnance?") and discover how we might live together in all our religious diversity and open our communities to welcome and embrace the diversity of the world.
